It started with a kettle
Anyone living in a hard water area knows the sight: that chalky ring inside the kettle, back again a fortnight after you last scrubbed it out.
We had looked at that ring for years without thinking much of it. Then one morning someone in our kitchen said the obvious thing out loud — if that is what the water leaves behind in here, what is it leaving behind in the shower?
The routine that kept not working
Between us we had bought the lot. The bond builder. The serum that cost more than the haircut. The mask you leave on for twenty minutes and then feel faintly cheated by.
Some of it worked. Most of it worked sometimes — brilliantly at a friend's flat in Glasgow, disappointingly back home in London. Same products. Same hair. Same person. Different water.
That is the part nobody mentions when they sell you the bottle. Across much of the UK, tap water carries dissolved minerals, and every single wash begins with it. Whatever you put on afterwards is the second thing your hair meets. Never the first.
We wanted to buy this. It did not exist.
Not in a form anyone would actually want in a bathroom.
What we found needed a plumber, or looked like it belonged under a sink, or came wrapped in claims we did not believe. Nothing you would willingly mount on the wall of a flat you rent, beside tiles you did not choose and cannot change.
So we made it ourselves.
What DUVÉA actually is
A shower head with a multi-stage filter cartridge inside, designed to help reduce certain impurities in the water you already shower in.
It screws onto the hose you already have. By hand. In about five minutes. Nothing is drilled, nothing is permanent, and when you move out it comes with you.
You replace the cartridge, not the shower head — roughly every three months, depending on your water and how busy your household is.
That is the whole product. There is no step two.
